Have tooling as a material type that would be checked-out instead of issued.

We have a large amount of tools that we track in Jobboss. We have them in as material requirements for  jobs and quotes. We use the type "Supplies" to define these and we check the Tooling box. We cannot issue these to jobs, because if we do Jobboss treats these as being consumed by the job and they are just being used by the job for a short period of time. So we material transfer to show they are checked out.

    Unipoint has tool usage functionality which sounds like what you're after.
