There needs to be a way to choose one material from inventory and pick a portion of it to multiple jobs at one time with the optional ability to divide remaining material appropriately among the selected jobs .
For example one steel sheet of material with .25 to job1 and .5 to job2. Ideally you should be able to do a remnant return to a different size with the remaining .25 or distribute it to the jobs proportionately (.08 to job1 and .17 to job2.)
This would greatly reduce the number of material transactions, eliminate fractional materials from inventory and increase the accuracy of material cost of jobs.
A pick function where you select one material ID as well as a lot number for this material. Then a function to check off from a list of all jobs that have an open requirement for this material would be very helpful. Once the appropriate job lines are selected for this particular material and lot number, it should allow for the estimated quantity to be picked and the requirement closed, or the ability to then massage the pick quantity. Lastly, an execute function that processes the transaction.
WE USE THE LOT NUMBER FOR OUR BLANK SIZE FOR SHEET OR LENGTH FOR RODS.
WE STILL USE DECIMALS (FRACTION OF THE STANDARD SHEET SIZE) OR LENGTH OF ROD PER FOOT.
THIS INVENTORY SYSTEM HAS WORKED WELL FOR US FOR OVER 10 YEARS NOW
WE ARE ABLE TO PICK A SHEET OR ROD TO MULTIPLE JOBS AND ALSO PICK BACK INVENTORY FROM
MULTIPLE JOBS
