You have a Make / Buy Default but on Hardware and Supplies the only options are Buy for Inventory or Buy for Job / Sales Order. We actually make a large number of our Hardware and Supply items but we cannot reflect that on the default.
The design of JobBOSS is that anything that is made in-house would be considered a finished good. At this time we are not considering changing that behavior.
It would be nice if you could reconsider this. When a part is made as a component it is not something we can sell as-is to a customer. And from a bank / accounting perspective it is not viewed as a Finished Good from a valuation standpoint. They view it simular to Raw Stock.
As your definition of Hardware states:
"Hardware - Hardware used to assemble parts, including items like bolts, nuts, and washers"
If we made our own bolts, nuts or washers that we then put on our assemblies our only option would be to choose that we bought them. (And we do make some of our own washers for our assemblies)
These components we make that wind up as part of the assembly need to be held in inventory as Hardware and with the title on the General tab indicating Make / Buy Default we should have an option to select Make instead of Buy for Inventory or Buy for Job / Sales Order. Since this is not how these items wind up in inventory it make it confusing.
The design of JobBOSS is that anything that is made in-house would be considered a finished good. While they might be component parts or hardware items for other finished goods, since a job is created for these and they're either linked or transferred to inventory, they are considered a FG.
Thanks!
