We are trying to set re-order points in material for consumable items that are NOT tracked to a job. Things like welding supplies, gases, gloves, packaging materiels, etc . Things that are used in the shop but not tied to a job. We tried using material adjustment but you have to count up how many are left in a box and subtract how many you are taking. This has been too confusing and labor intensive for most of the employees. What I would like is a pick for these consumables that when you scan a barcode for the item it automatically reduces the quantity by 1.
Hi Michael,
Thank you for submitting the idea. In the meantime, have you tried using the Material Adjustment to reduce the quantity by 1 to achieve this?
An idea: How we monitor some of our consumables, is with a Shop Job which is created for each year (Job ID: SHOP-2021, for example); this job has usual routings like Clean Up, Maintenance, and Training, which allows us to track employee time that is not directly billed to customers. Also, we have consumables that can be "picked" to the shop job, whenever a staff member gets them from the supply cupboard, etc.. These jobs can be laminated and kept at every workcenter for easy access all year long.
