Also, when you create a new contact for vendor or customer from the quote or po module it doesn't even ask to enter the phone number, title, and email address. This often gets forgotten and never gets entered at all.
Which one are we voting for here? The first idea is in theory great for some companies, but we have to be a little fluid here at our place and some ops can be done out of sequence depending on load of departments. If the operation cannot be worked on out of sequence, then I will spend around a half hour to an hour a week changing sequences on routers for a one time change or more likely result, people work on it and don't scan the data so we have to go looking at the parts to verify they were done.
The second thought I agree with.
